F.O.G. Program

Fats Oils and Grease Program

We would like to make you aware of the F.O.G. (Fats, Oils, and Grease) Program that FTMSA is implementing at this time.

While most Non-Residential customers have made corrections, the Authority does not believe corrections to all Non-Residential properties have been made.

Re:  Fats, Oils & Grease Program
To Whom It May Concern,

The Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority treats all sanitary waste for Murrysville, Salem Township, Export Borough, Delmont Borough, and select areas in Penn Township, Plum, and Monroeville.  FTMSA also maintains over 300 miles of sanitary sewer pipes for the area. With this being said, FTMSA is rolling out a F.O.G (Fats, Oils & Grease) program to all non-residential customers who cook, prepare, or serve food in our service area.  The purpose of this program is to eliminate fats, oils and grease that are entering the sewage system which is causing problems related to hydraulic overloading, surcharging, and potential sanitary sewage overflows. Enclosed is the Establishment Questionnaire and the Grease Interceptor Sizing Worksheet that needs to be completed and returned to the Authority. The enclosed Pump Out Report will be required to be sent to the Authority bi-annually. The first Pump Out Report is due July 1, 2023. Each location will be subject to periodic inspections to affirm that the rules and regulations are being followed (See Murrysville Ordinance Chapter 193, Article III, 193-29 Operation of systems). The requirement to comply with the regulation will be 90 days from the time of receipt of this letter.  If there are any questions involving this requirement, please contact the authority.

Thank you,
Nicholas Kerr
Resident Manager
Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority
