Main Pump Station

Description: This station serves the major portion of the Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority's sewer system that is tributary to the Meadowbrook Road Plant (except for approximately 263 homes in the Meadowbrook Road Area and 100 homes in the Lyons Run Area or a total of 363 homes). In conjuction with the expansion and upgrading of the Meadowbrook Road Plant, the Main Pump Station was expanded to handle an average daily flow of approximately 10.7 MGD (7,400 GPM), actual operation has demonstrated capacity to approximately 17.3 MGD (12,000 GPM) under flooded wet well conditions.
The recorded daily dry weather flow and maximum daily wet weather flow received at this station during 2009 were 2.619 MGD (September 1-30, 2009) and 10.771 MGD (April 3, 2009), respectfully. The average daily dry and wet weather flows represent the difference between the recorded plant flow for each respective period and the estimated normal average daily flow from the Meadowbrook Road Area (0.084 MGD) and Lyons Run Area (0.030 MGD) or a total of 0.114 MGD. During the flood on June 17, 2009 a 3.78" rainfall event, and an overflow at this pump station occurred of 3,235,000 MGD.
The maximum increase in the average daily dry weather flow that is expected to occur at this station within the next two years is estimated to be approximately 0.151 MGD. Assuming a peak flow factor of 2.5, the maximum daily wet weather flow is estimated to increase by approximately 0.378 MGD.
Within the next 2 years, the average daily dry weather flow to be received at this station is estimated at 2.770 MGD and the maximum daily wet weather flow is estimated at 11.149 MGD.

This pump station is owned and operated by the FTMSA and is located in the Municipality of Murrysville at the beginning of Meadowbrook Road and at the entrance to MSA and is .38 acre.
