FTMSA is offering FREE Class A Biosolids to be used as fertilizer
As of July 1, 2011, the Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority was permitted by the Department of Environmental Protection to produce exceptional quality Class A biosolids for beneficial uses by land application.  The Authority will be giving away the Class A biosolids to be used as fertilizer. Biosolids are nutrient-rich organic materials resulting from the treatment of domestic sewage in a treatment facility. When treated and processed, these residuals can be recycled and applied as fertilizer to improve and maintain productive soils and stimulate plant growth.
Exceptional quality Class A biosolids produced by the Authority are thermally treated sewage sludge. These biosolids are carefully treated and monitored and must be used in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Class A biosolids are used to fertilize fields for raising crops. Agricultural use of biosolids, that meet strict quality criteria and application rates, have been shown to produce significant improvements in crop growth and yield. Nutrients found in biosolids, such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and trace elements such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, sulfur and zinc, are necessary for crop production and growth. The use of biosolids reduces the farmer's production costs and replenishes the organic matter that has been depleted over time. The organic matter improves soil structure by increasing the soil's ability to absorb and store moisture.
Class A biosolids may be composted and sold or distributed for use on lawns and home gardens. Most biosolids composts, are highly desirable products that are easy to store, transport and use.
Anyone who is interested in the free Class A biosolids can pick it up at the treatment plant located at 3001 Meadowbrook Road in Murrysville, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between the hours of 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.   Quantities from baskets to truck loads are available. You will be required to bring your own baskets, containers or trucks.  For those with questions, the office phone number is 724-327-1950.

!! NOW AVAILABLE !!

ON-LINE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority is pleased to announce that we will begin accepting credit cards for payment of your sewer bill in August 2011.

On-line Payments:  Visa, MasterCard & Discover

Office Payments:  MasterCard & Discover ONLY

Please note that you will not be able to pay with a credit card over the telephone.

This Credit Card service is secure and simple.

Payments made by credit card will be charged a small convenience fee of 2.45%, with a $1.50 minimum, whether the transaction is made on-line or at our office.  This fee goes to a third party processor and is not retained by FTMSA.

Please note that your payment may not be posted to your sewer account for up to 48 business hours after you make the transaction.  Payments made close to your shut-off date may not avoid service termination and you will still incur additional termination fees and/or penalties.  You may want to contact the FTMSA office as to our termination process.  (724-327-1950)

If your water is already shut-off, you cannot make a credit card payment on-line, although you can come into the FTMSA office and make a credit card payment between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday only, except for holidays when the office is closed.

The on-line credit card payment system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  However, from time to time we may need to take the system down for maintenance.
